About
Port Jackson Music |
Joe Altieri founded
Port Jackson Music in 2007 to record, promote and manages local
artists with Global appeal. With the decline of larger label
success stories and the increasing popularity of the Internet,
timing is responsible for the launch of this new venture.
In 1986 Joe opened a local 16
track analog recording studio called Studio Sixty Six Productions.
Here he would record local artists and hundreds of commercials
for the auto industry (you have to eat). Joe would serve on
the weekends as a Disc Jockey which would take him on what he
calls "a 13 year ride".
Working in clubs playing the
songs of Rob Base, Technotronic, CC & The Music Factory,
LL Cool J. and many other dance favorites, Joe had the privilege
of recording week nights with bands such as Snap (Akron, OH),
The Light (Stop The Bus), White August, and The Apples (Buffalo,
NY). Joe is responsible for co-writing, producing and arranging
a project titled "Joe Sorento - Back In A Day", which
would be a collaboration with his long time friend Joe Sorento.
In 1991 Joe moved to Nashville,
TN where he would find himself selling cars during the day and
hanging out at Warner Brothers Studios at night with his then
roommate Chad Brock (Ordinary
Life, YES,
Warner Bros. Records). It was in Nashville where Joe truly fell
in love with the business of music. Spending every possible
minute meeting new musicians, hanging out at the Grand Ole Opry
House, networking in the clubs downtown, and sitting in at local
demo studios, Joe's passion for music began to intensify and
so did the need to be close to his family. After a year or so
of floating around the Nashville circuit, Joe returned home
to recover from what he calls "a serious musician's hangover".
"It was time to go be with my family. I rest my case"
Altieri says with a laugh.
Never giving up on his love for
music, Joe returned to the Disc Jockey arena on the weekends
and dabbled in a few business ventures such as Executive Search,
Magazine Publishing and Web Design/Marketing.
In 2005, Joe sold his company
and spent time on the weekends building his network of music
professionals and listening to the new artists emerging from
the Internet. While watching the launch and growth of portals
like Napster, MySpace, iTunes, CD Baby, OurStage.com and GarageBand.com,
the energy to be a part of the industry increasingly grew. "I
was in the Internet business when these companies were first
set to go online and I have been watching them grow ever since",
says Altieri.
Fast Forward 2008
Today Joe is the morning Host
of his own radio show called Wake
Up To The Vibe on WCSS
AM 1490. He enjoys being in a position where he can help
promote his hometown, highlight local artists on his show, keep
up with the music that is selling while enjoying classics from
yesterday. Wake Up To The Vibe (www.wakeuptothevibe.com) is
the only local AM station that gets away with playing Glenn
Miller, Van Halen, Johnny Cash and Fergie back to back. "It's
all in the way you position it" states Altieri. "And
you need to let the audience know you are here for quality and
to have fun".
Joe is currently writing and
recording in Port Jackson's Music Studio with singer JP Herbert
and drummer Frank Raspanti (formally of The Braided Souls) on
a project called "Right Lane Ends" with a debut CD
due in 2008 called "Yield".
Joe is producing a new CD for
singer songwriter Gabrielle Ellers and promises a new release
in 2008 that will exceed her fans expectations.
Joe has developed a working relationship
with singer songwriter Sean Rowe and is excited to be representing
Sean in NYC.
Sean's voice is like no
other. It's a unique blend of soul, funk, silk and dark chocolate
all wrapped into one voice. There is no real way to explain
it and that's what makes him so appealing to a global audience.
In June of 2007, Joe was introduced
to a band called Flame.
This is a band made of 8 musicians and 3 dancers, all of which
have mental disabilities ranging from Autism to Down Syndrome.
Joe has featured Flame on his radio show and continues to do
so and is active in seeking out radio, record and TV opportunities
for them. Flame will change the way people view those with mental
disabilities and it would be a crime not to have the world share
the experience. "They are by far one of the best bands
I have witnessed in my lifetime" states Altieri.
